International Civil Aviation Day
For what and why is this day celebrated?.
According to the ICAO website, “The purpose of International Civil Aviation Day is to help generate and reinforce worldwide awareness of the importance of international civil aviation to the social and economic development of States, and of the unique role of ICAO in helping States to cooperate and realize a truly global rapid transit network at the service of all mankind“.
It commemorates the conference that was held in the United States in 1944, and from which the regulatory body of everything concerning aviation was born, ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization)
We want to join this special day for aviation lovers. And it will be on December 12th, between 15z-21z, and together with Greece, Spain and Belux divisions, we propose four airports to celebrate it, Barcelona, Athens, Geneva and Luxembourg.
Event Date : 12th of December 2020
Time : 15:00z to 21:00z
Event Description : Triangulation between any of the four airports.
Division : CH, ES, GR, XB
Airports involved : Geneva (LSGG), Barcelona (LEBL), Athens (LGAV), Luxembourg (ELLX)
All pilots are kindly requested to:
» Make sure you have a VALID VAC
» Be prepared – have access to charts
» Note the departure, circuit and arrival altitude restrictions.
» Be ready – you may be asked to enter holds or extend downwind
» Remember – Aviate, Navigate, Communicate.
» Maintain proper IFR/VFR radio communication.
» Follow IFR/VFR procedures
» Geneva (LSGG)
» Barcelona (LEBL)
» Luxembourg (ELLX)
» Athens (LGAV), free registration required

If you want to participate as ATC in Geneva, you can submit your application here.
Pilots performing a flight from/to Geneva will receive 1 point towards the CH Pilot Events Award.
ATC participating the event in Geneva will receive 1 point towards the CH ATC Events Award.
> We are to integrate the IVAO Events Support & IVAO Relay Awards in this event, so get your teams ready or scopes online and help out making the event a great success!
This event allow you to receive the IVAO HQ Relay Award!
Attention! To access the award of this medal, which is provided by HQ and they are the ones who validate it, you have to comply with the following:
>ATC: He must be enrolled in the quadrant shift, and have controlled in any position for at least 2 hours. If there is any position left to fill, and it is occupied even without being in the shifts, it would also be granted as long as it complies with the schedule for it, (2 hours).
>PILOTS: They must fly at least between 3 airports participating in the event. Example: LSGG – ELLX – LEBL, but any triangulation can be done. This is MANDATORY.
